I headed over to Computer Task Group’s headquarters the other day to take a walking tour of their amazing historic office building/mansion. The Mental Health Association is holding their first year fundraising event in this historic home in May to help support their children’s educational programs and our agency is lending its support.
For me it was a déjà vu experience, having been involved in an early preservation movement in Buffalo called “Friends of Delaware Avenue.” The group actively campaigned to save three of the historic mansions on this block from demolition. It was a tight battle but the “Friends” won by one vote in the common council and as I walked up to the homes I was filled with pride for my city whose future is now closely tied to its preservation of historical architecture, as noted in The New York Times.

Some of the exciting preservation projects going on in Buffalo right now are the Erie Canal Harbor Restoration and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House to name just a few. It’s wonderful to see this commitment to preservation in our community from individuals, to my own company, to our clients and the community as a whole. It reinforces why I love Buffalo!
