I don’t surf. Channel surf, that is. I’m probably one of the rare people who stick to the channel I have devoted my eyes and brain to for the next 30 or 60 minutes for two reasons: to make sure I don’t miss any of the program, and to see the newest commercials.
Most people celebrate commercials on one day – the Super Bowl. We all watch to see the clever beer commercials, credit card ads and those highly anticipated E-Trade spots with the hysterical babies in them: eTrade Talking Baby Super Bowl Commercial: Baby Buys Stock
Those are my favorite.
Last week, while not surfing, I saw what I thought was a really great commercial from a national company who was capitalizing on a newsworthy and trendy topic: social networking. That company was Coleman, and the spot was about how they were really the ones to give birth to social networking. Check it out: Advertising kudos to a company who saw the opportunity to take a trend and find a clever way to incorporate it into what they have been doing for decades – bringing people together. Just to a different kind of site.
