All the emails and blogs from loyal Michigan fans criticizing Michael Rosenberg, Mark Snyder and the Detroit Free Press for reporting the story regarding the Michigan football program's violations are voices of blind emotions. This isn't about Rich Rodriguez caring and loving his players. It's about breaking NCAA rules. It's about cheating. Several former and current players confirmed the allegations and U-M and the NCAA are conducting their own investigation. And when their final reports support the facts of this story, then what? Should Michigan fans be sorry or regret that the truth came out? What does it say about a coach and a program that has disdain for the rules, honesty and integrity? It's okay to cheat? Is that what you expect your children to learn when you send them off to college?
We are talking about student athletes, not professional football players. The fact that other college programs might be doing the same thing isn't an excuse.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
