Steve Jobs gave a commencement address to Stanford's Class of 2005. Steve advised the students to do what they love, and to follow their hearts and intuition. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life,” Steve explained to the audience that morning. “And the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

Food trucks have long been embracing the power of social media. In a way, social media is the fuel that keeps the food trucks going. Very practically, our four-wheeled friends tweet their whereabouts for the day. Although at Travers Collins we pride ourselves on memorizing the Lloyd’s Taco Truck schedule, in the off chance we lose track of every other Wednesday, a friendly Twitter reminder ensures us a coveted spot in the local food truck’s line.

We never thought we’d have to make a citizen’s arrest. They always seemed like something that only happens in movies. Honestly, we thought they were just an urban legend, like the one about Philadelphia Flyers fans being able to read.
But what compelled us to study up on the Miranda Rights was the way that Flyers center Mike Richards drove the Buffalo Sabres’ Tim Connolly headfirst into the boards during Game Six on Sunday. Easter Sunday to boot!

These words are the essence that embodied all that Flip stood for. He was truly a lover of life; wanting nothing more than to put a smile on everyone’s face. While his life was short, he influenced many. Today we reflect on the life of our dear friend, Flip.
Born in 2006, it was clear from the beginning that Flip would change the world in his own way. In 2009, he left his humble beginnings at Pure Digital Technologies and joined Cisco. It was here where Flip would shine; becoming the #1 selling point-and-shoot camcorder in the US. It is also here where he, while seemingly at the pinnacle of his stardom, would experience a tragic and startling death.

In the latest American news item that should be a non-story, an image in a J. Crew catalog has inspired a vociferous debate, including a column from Fox News contributor Dr. Keith Ablow that positioned the clothing company as cultural instigators, bent on destroying humanity as we know it.
“These folks are hostile to the gender distinctions that actually are part of the magnificent synergy that creates and sustains the human race,” Ablow writes. “They respect their own creative notions a whole lot more than any creative Force in the universe.”
So just what’s in this ad anyways? Osama bin Laden wearing a Stripe Boatneck Sweater over a Linen Henley Tank? No. It’s a candid shot of J. Crew president and creative director Jenna Lyons, laughing at home with her son Beckett. She’s holding one of his bare feet in her hands, and his toenails are painted pink.

Some people love to complain; so it was really no surprise that when Southwest Airlines experienced some technical issues with its aircrafts, a lot of customers, bloggers, and even some media outlets were quick to put Southwest on trial. I, on the other hand, like to consider myself a rational person. If you haven’t heard about it yet, Southwest Airlines had a little mishap on Friday. I will admit that it was concerning to hear about Southwest having issues with a hole in a plane, especially because I have always looked to Southwest as my first choice in air travel. However, there is a silver lining (not in the planes of course; that would have prevented depressurization).

On Saturday, I had the good fortune of attending the 126th annual white tie Gridiron Dinner in Washington as the guest of Stan Lipsey, publisher and president of the Buffalo News.
For those who may not be familiar with it, the Gridiron Club and Foundation is one of the country’s oldest and most highly regarded journalist organizations. Annually, it hosts a dinner roasting many of our national political leaders. This year it was the first appearance by President Obama. Every US President since 1885, except Grover Cleveland, has spoken at the event.
The evening began for me with a small cocktail party hosted by Lipsey at Washington’s Renaissance Hotel which is where the Gridiron Dinner took place and where everyone from Buffalo stayed. Also attending the cocktail party: Robert Gioia, president of The John R. Oishei Foundation; Doug Turner, retired Buffalo News Washington correspondent and a member of the Gridiron Club;
